I am going to learn a lot about you while working on your case, so it's only fair to share some information about myself. I grew up in Massapequa, which is on Long Island, New York. Although I am originally from "up North," and then lived in Florida, Georgia has been my home for the past 23 years (about half of my life). So, while I can use my northern disposition to stand up for you when an insurance company is difficult, I also have the southern sensibility to work with the other side and get the best results in the shortest possible amount of time.
I graduated from Emory University School of Law in 1997 and started my career as the staff attorney for a respected judge in Fulton County. I continued serving Georgia citizens as an Assistant Attorney General and later as a prosecutor in the District Attorney's Office. Then, after a few years working at big law firms defending corporations, insurance companies and doctors, I returned to public service and took up the cause for victims of their carelessness.
I am humbled by the trust that clients place in me and will always be thankful for their faith in my work.
First and foremost, I am blessed with an incredible family. They inspire me every day and add a husband's / parent's perspective to my work.
Like a lot of other attorneys, I have recovered millions of dollars for injury victims. Part of what sets me apart is that my work goes beyond an individual client or case; I have helped change the justice system and preserved all victims' access to the courts. Here are a few examples of my most impactful cases:
Lavelle v. Lab Corp. - eliminating a key defense tactic used all across America by laboratories that misread Pap smears.
Nestlehutt v. Atlanta Oculoplastic Surgery, PC - striking down the artifical cap in Georgia on non-economic damages for pain and suffering in medical malpractice cases as unconstitutional.
Baxley v. Hakiel Industries - preventing companies from escaping liability after destroying evidence.
I am Board Certified in Medical Malpractice Litigation and a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. It has also been my privilege to be a guest lecturer at legal seminars and the University of Georgia School of Law.
